Brits are being warned about a little-known rule that could turn a dream Spanish holiday into a nigh
Brits are being warned about a little-known rule that could turn a dream Spanish holiday into a nightmare.
Benidorm is the ultimate 'Brits abroad' destination, where over a million of us flock to soak up the sunshine each year.
Last autumn, it was even named the most popular international destination for Brits, according to Tripadvisor's Autumn Travel Index.
However, tourists will have to dig deep into their pockets if they break an important list of rules.
Scroll down to find out how to avoid being left short of cash on your next Benidorm getaway.

The new rule affects the place holidaymakers will spend the most time while abroad - the beach.
Time restrictions mean that if you're caught swimming in the sea between midnight and 7am, you'll be at risk of being fined between €750 and €1,200 (£641.71 to £1,026.73).
The same rule applies to sleeping or camping on Benidorms beaches during these hours.
And these aren't the only rules tourists need to keep in mind - there's a whole list that could cause Brits to cough up cash.
Placing parasols and towels down to reserve a space could see beachgoers coughing up €150 (£128.34), meanwhile playing ball games outside of designated areas will see fines of €120 (£102.67).
Taking off your clothes on a non-nudist beach will result in a fine of €650 (£556.15) and swimming when the red flag is flying will be a whopping €1,000 (£855.61), reports Birmingham Live.
Urinating in the sea will cost €150 (£128.34) and using soap and shampoo at beach showers will set you back €650 (£556.15).
Fishing with a rod or net results in a fine of €750 (£641.71) - if you're using a harpoon it's even higher at €1,100 (£941.17).

Shockingly, drinking alcohol on the beach is also on this list and could see tourists forking out €750 (£641.71).
It's important not to buy drinks from beach vendors as they are largely unlicensed and authorised.
No smoking on the beach is another huge rule - if you're caught you will have to pay a fine of up to €2,000 (£1711.22).
Sex on the beach will see you fined €750 (£641.71) and not covering up when you leave the beach to go into town can see you charged up to €300 (£256.68).
Even building large sand sculptures is on the list with a fine of €150 (£128.34), although it's important to note this is referring to those big enough to impede the beaches nightly clean - not childrens sandcastles.
And that's not all - barbecues and fires are banned on every Benidorm beach, as is sitting or sunbathing on the first six meters of sand closes to the water.
